Job Description

Collections OfficerThe BankA Challenger Bank who offer a real alternative for small and medium sized organisations looking to make sure that their properties and cash work harder for them. Post Covid there will be the option to work from home 2 days a week. This role is based in Letchworth in Hertfordshire.The RoleHandles all duties where the Collections function has been requested to review problem accounts, as well as where debt recovery action is necessary. Liaise internally, with customers, solicitors and Administrators/Receivers, as required. Carries out other ad-hoc duties required within Portfolio Management, as and when they arise.The Key Accountabilities of the role will be:

  • Maintain an active and up to date knowledge of FCA guidelines and requirements, including where Covid forbearance is involved.
  • Manage any specific tasks that are carried out in line with the Bank’s Credit Committee sanctioned requests.
  • Maintain a diary to ensure that Receivers/Administrators complete the tasks set for them within an acceptable time frame.
  • Request customer financial information with clear deadlines.
  • Manage customer forbearance requests, in line with FCACovid related guidelines, ensuring that TCF is at the heart of all actions taken by the Bank.
  • Provide customers with all available options open to them, to ensure that they are able to make correct decisions and to ensure that they are treated fairly at all times.
  • Assist the wider Portfolio Management Team with any tasks that may become evident and pressing.
  • Conduct customer reviews in a timely manner, ensuring that interim and annual reports are completed within a set time frame.
  • Document all customer communications in a succinct and prescribed manner.
  • Log any and all customer complaints as a front-line agent, acting as the face of the Bank.
  • Manage any incoming calls and emails in a customer service friendly capacity, ensuring any customer requests are dealt with in a timely manner.
  • Respond to enquiries and requests for information from both customers externally, from within Portfolio Management, and from other departments.
  • Update and maintain customer information on internal systems (CRM/DPR).
  • Be proficient in use of the internal systems, with an eye to becoming expert on these, allowing for further assistance to the wider team.
  • Assist in providing 4 eye checks on part and full redemptions.
  • Assist the Collections Manager and wider Portfolio Management Team with any other tasks which may require completion whether as part of the day to day workflow or project based.
  • Qualifications, Skills & Experience:
  • Educated to either Degree, A levels or equivalent, with 2+ years relevant work history
  • Experience within the banking sector
  • Experience with FCA regulations
  • Collections and debt recovery experience
  • Strong intellect & professional approach
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task and coordinate with colleagues
  • Attention to detail and able to meet tight deadlines
  • Ability to work independently as well as within a team
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Team player, flexible and adaptable
