ROYAL BROMPTON & HAREFIELD Clinical GroupRoyal Brompton HospitalClinical Fellow (SpR) in Cardiology and Cardio-oncologyAvailable from 5th April 2021Applications are invited for a Clinical Fellow in Cardiology and Cardio-oncology post at the Royal Brompton Hospital for a period of twelve months, possibly extendable by mutual consent up to a maximum of 23 months.The Cardio-oncology service at the Royal Brompton hospital was initiated in 2011 and receives up to 400 new referrals per annum, offering a range of the complex medical issues seen in a busy Cardio-oncology service. The fellow is responsible for preparing the information and results for new referrals and presentation in the Cardio-oncology multidisciplinary team meeting (MDT). The fellow will also be responsible for management of Cardio-oncology patients admitted for acute care or investigations, and reviewing inpatients in our partner oncology hospitals with acute cardiac conditions. The fellow will gain experience and training in the management of cardiovascular toxicity resulting from the full range of modern cancer therapies including anthracycline chemotherapy, HER2-targeted therapies, immune checkpoint inhibitors, CAR-T therapies, tyrosine kinase inhibitors and therapies, tyrosine kinase inhibitors and other targeted molecular cancer therapies. The fellow will also gain experience in the management of direct cardiac complications of malignancy including malignant pericardial effusions, primary and secondary cardiac tumours, cardiac amyloidosis and carcinoid valvular heart disease.The Royal Brompton Hospital manages patients from a variety of cardiac specialities (EP, coronary artery disease, heart failure, ACHD) both on an in-patient and out-patient basis and provides input to multidisciplinary team meetings.
