Royal London HospitalClinical Fellow in NephrologyThe PostThe post is a two year fixed term contract renewable for 3rd year subject satisfactory progress, and would be suitable for trainees in nephrology. It will be based within Barts Health and primarily working at the Royal London Hospital and affiliated research London Bridge hospital This is an exciting and unique opportunity for a trainee with an interest in clinical studies to pursue higher degree and publish few peer reviewed manuscripts. It also offers the opportunity to be involved in the exciting field of basic science at William Harvey Research Institute.The Centre for Translational Medicine and Therapeutics (TMT) (Nephrology) at the William Harvey Research Institute (WHRI), Barts and The London School of Medicine & Dentistry at Queen Mary University of London (QMUL) opened in May 2001 and is led by Professor Magdi Yaqoob. TMT (Nephrology) has rapidly become a leading national and international nephrology Centre of excellence. The Centre is focused on the development of innovative therapeutic and diagnostic approaches to several forms of renal diseases and their cardiovascular and endocrine complications. The emphasis is on translational research by combining strengths and expertise of basic and clinician scientists working together.We are seeking to appoint a Clinical Research Fellow at SpR / Lecturer level to join a 50 strong research team of Scientists, Clinicians and Clinical Trial staff dedicated to experimental and clinical renal and transplant medical research.The post-holder will be expected to undertake clinical programmed activities on behalf of the Trust or in HCA hospitals (the number, timing and nature of these may be negotiated), but the majority of the post will relate to candidates research. Applicants should have an undergraduate medical degree and postgraduate degree and/or relevant professional qualification and/or equivalent professional experience at SpR level.The post is currently based at Charterhouse Square (QMUL) and Royal London Hospital (RLH), although the candidate may be required to move to another of the School/Trust’s sites should the need arise.This is a full-time (40 hours per week), fixed term appointment for renewable for further 12 months . Salary will be up to a candidate’s current clinical pay scale.Candidates must be able to demonstrate their eligibility to work in the UK in accordance with the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006. Where required this may include entry clearance or continued leave to remain under the Points Based Immigration Scheme.It is aimed at those who wish to build on their personal research experience to develop expertise in clinical research. The post would typically suit anyone just about to start specialist training or those wishing to undertake further training in clinical trials as part of an Out of Programme Training (OOPT) from their Specialist Registrar training programme.
