Job Description

Our client, an Investor in People, is a top regional firm of accountants and financial advisors, based across three locations, within London and the Thames Valley. They have been successfully supporting individuals, local businesses and multi-national corporations for over 30 years. They offer expertise and specialist advice across their core business areas of accounting, audit and tax, business support and financial services.A fully qualified accountant required within their General Practice team, reporting directly to the Partner.The successful candidate will have:

  • At least 10 years general practice experience (5 years post qualified experience)
  • Competent in all aspects of audit, accounts and taxation work
  • Take responsibility for a portfolio of clients and control all aspects of the preparation and execution of engagements for those clients including finalisation meetings
  • Maintain continuous and beneficial contact with clients
  • Carry out complex aspects of work, including preparing the final output of an engagement
  • Keep engagement partners adequately informed of progress on engagements.
  • Maintain close contact with clients throughout engagements to ensure continuing good relations and the effective completion of work
  • Prepare the invoice of client work. Monitors time spent on engagements to ensure a commercial return for the business. Deal with any client queries.
  • Assist in the on-job training and development of junior staff • Prepare and discuss staff performance reports and participate in staff appraisals
  • Bring to the attention of partners opportunities to promote additional services to existing and potential clients
  • Promotes the full range of services available to existing and potential clients
  • Develops and maintains a personal network of contacts.
  • Represents the firm at external activities
  • Key skills required are:
  • Comprehensive accounting and taxation experience, including:
  • Accounting standards
  • Corporate taxation
  • Mainstream personal taxation
  • Mainstream VAT
  • Auditing Standards
  • Technically proficient
  • Demonstrates skilled commercial acumen
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Experience of team management and development
  • A knowledge of IRIS, SAGE and Xero software would be helpful.
