Job Description

Charles Taylor’s management services business delivers a complete outsourced management service covering every aspect of mutual insurance company management. These include the management of underwriting and claims, the provision of regulatory and accounting services, as well as corporate governance and company secretarial services.The business currently manages The Standard Club, which is a mutual association, owned by its members, providing liability insurance to around 9% of world shipping and The Strike Club, which is the only dedicated marine mutual insurer covering the costs of delays outside an operators control.This is an exciting time for The Standard Club as it progresses its project to move most of the management of its business inhouse, which will conclude in the second half of 2021. From then, Charles Taylor will continue to provide some services but the team within Charles Taylor which currently manages The Standard Club, including this vacant role, will move to be directly employed The Standard Club.We currently have an interesting opportunity for a Claims Operations Assistant to provide administrative support to the MSUKI Divisional Claims Teams.Your main duties and responsibilities will include:-Payments

  • Registering fee invoices / claim reimbursement requests and issuing credit and debit notes as appropriate.
  • Compiling the supporting documents for payments for the accounts department.
  • Assisting with enquiries from the claims teams / accounts department / service providers.
  • Uploading of matters to our E-billing system (Serengeti Legal Tracker) and assisting claims teams and law firms with the system.
  • Claims Management Assistance
  • Providing claims reports and listings as requested by the Divisional Claims Directors and claims management.
  • Transferring claim files between claims handlers, as requested.
  • Assisting claims handlers with closing files and any payments that get held up in the system.
  • Miscellaneous
  • Clearing matches and carrying out sanctions checks on screening system Worldcheck One.
  • Carrying out searches to see whether the club covered vessels in previous years for occupational disease related matters.
  • Saving emails to the internal filing system (Almanac), as requested.
  • Updating details of our Correspondents’ information to be reflected on the Standard Club website.
  • Such other tasks and duties as management may from time to time decide fall within the employee’s competence and experience level.
  • Skills/qualifications required for this role:
  • Educated to A’ level standard or equivalent
  • Ability to work well as part of a team
  • Experience of working with Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Excellent organisation skills
  • Good communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Confident to liaise at a senior level
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Good at juggling tasks and prioritising
  • Flexible hands on approach
