In ADS we foster a culture in which employees feel valued and supported, delivering exceptional rates of customer satisfaction in the UK’s most complex safety- and security-critical markets.The Day JobThe Chief Technology Officer (CTO) role is a key leadership role in the Aerospace Defence and Secure Sector Executive Team, working alongside the Sector Managing Director (MD), the Sub-Sector Business Unit Leads and managing a team of technologists. They will be expected to deliver a strategic approach to technology delivery and transformational activity to a portfolio of customers with differing objectives and outcomes.The Aerospace Defence and Secure sector has a range of high profile current clients who look to Sopra Steria to manage and deliver some or all of their current services and projects with information security as a common theme. The Sector also seeks to grow the business to both current and prospective clients who seek digital solutions to help them transform their business.They will also have a strong professional services ethos; be an evangelist of technology and are confident in, reviewing, coaching and challenging others to drive up and increase professionalism, client satisfaction and profitability of the services delivered across the Sector. They will lead, build and maintain a technology capability across the sector that can do the same. This will include identifying the requirement for external partnering, recruiting or upskilling technology resources and identifying training initiatives to develop and maintain digital skills. The CTO should act as a magnet for technology talent, pick the best candidates and foster them to become technology leaders in the future.Key Responsibilities:

  • Providing technology market expertise in terms of emerging technologies and tools. Setting the standards and methods required across the sector and ensuring that these are effective. This includes looking at potential technology partners and opportunities for the creation of platforms or wrap around services.
  • Actively participating in the sector planning, business development activities and sales campaigns to demonstrate as the central point for technology innovation to clients and agree with Sector Executive Team the appropriate new solution offers that require investment funding and manage the development of agreed market offers.
  • Provide senior technical leadership skills to support the expected financial performance of the Sector.
  • Advise the MD and the Business as a key decision maker on funding for innovation-driven technology investments.
  • Seeking opportunities for continuous innovation and automation. Share technology learning internally and externally across people, processes, and technologies.
  • Ensure that the appropriate risk assessments are made when introducing new information and operational technology.
  • Support business development activity, and own all Technology sign-off across the Sector.
  • Establish a suitable delegated model across the Sector delivery team to make this efficient and effective - and act as senior management engagement point for how sign-off (underwrite) is achieved across joint Sector and Service line deliveries as required.
  • Establish effective working relationships across the Sopra Steria group to ensure the development of effective, affordable innovative solutions and services. Support and challenge for innovation and productivity improvements.
  • Contribute towards the success of Sopra Steria group, collaborating with other sectors and business units sharing, utilising and adopting technologies from other areas.
    • Essential Skills:
  • Experience as a CTO within an Enterprise IT Services and digital transformation business. Experience managing C level engagements; influencing and managing upwards within a Corporate strategy
  • Experience of partnering and creating revenue earning viable client services with the leading Cloud based technology stack providers
  • Experience of working with Defence, Aerospace or Secure Government markets to drive business change.
  • An innovator that can demonstrate a track record of delivery of original ideas and forward thinking, as well as the ambition to become a key influencer within the executive team.
  • Demonstrated experience in influencing and developing operational management and technology strategies as well as an appreciation of the complexities of customer acquisition and retention.
  • Experience of managing multiple stakeholders, acting as change agent internally and externally and a role model for technology staff.
  • Experience of creating scalable technology vehicles for clients or for a market that generates revenue based on volumes/end users of the platform
  • Familiar with Consulting models and a consulting led approach to business development.
  • Ideally been accountable for the Technology and Operations in a similar sized business.
