Job Description

  • Are you an advocate at defining industry renowned standards into Engineering Can you be a hands on leader who is able to guide colleagues on delivering fantastic results Do you love working with Kafka, Java and Camunda If yes, then we may have a role for you!As a Chapter Lead Engineer you will be an expert within the field of all things Digital, Kafka, Originations, Java and Camunda. Reporting to the Head of Digital Engineering, you translate developments within your domain into strategy within the chapter, and make sure all chapter members are well versed. You will also give assurance and clarity to colleagues on how we provide a high quality experience for our customers when using our technology systems to create fans!So what would you be doing...• Engineering and building world class features that will help us add value to our customers experience• Setting and defining standards and best practice for colleagues to follow• Mentoring and nurturing colleagues in engineering excellence• Improving current functions and processes, as well as teams knowledge and skills on chapter related technologies• Creating business cases on when platforms need upgrading, and present these to the executive leadership team• Monitoring the platform regularly, and making sure projects land on time whilst maintaining BAU capabilitiesDepending on the team, most of our roles offer flexible working and you will work remotely temporarily due to COVID-19.You need to be this kind of person…• Passionate about providing unparalleled levels of service and convenience for customers• Able to work and learn quickly in a fast paced, fun and dynamic environment• Prepared to stick at something - we get nervous if someone has jumped from job to job as we want people who are prepared to learn and grow• Care about doing a great job and exceeding expectations with the quality of what you doAnd... we are a bank so risk is a part of everything we do. But to be successful in this job you really do need to already be able to do most of these wonderful things...• Understand the risks associated with your job and what that means for you, Metro Bank and all our stakeholders• Naturally you will be an expert within the field of Digital, Kafka, Originations, Java and Camunda• In order to be successful in this role you will be experienced in working in, and implementing an Agile environment• We would get really excited if you could showcase your experience with TDD/BDD development methodology• You should also be able to demonstrate your leadership skills using examples of technical changes you have lead on, and the ability to contribute towards technical standards and technology roadmaps
