Job Description

Care and Support Plan (CASP) Reviewing OfficerAbout The ServiceCardiff Council are looking to recruit 2 experienced and permanent Social Workers to join our new and innovative team that will be independently reviewing Care and Support Plans for childrenand young people in Cardiff.You will be joining an enhanced and revised Reviewing Hub, sitting alongside experienced Child Protection Conference Chairs and Independent Reviewing Officers. The focus and ethos of the Care and Support Plan Reviewing Officers,will be to ensure children and young people have the best plans that promote their wellbeing and safety.Cardiff is committed to working in a strength based approach, utilising Signs of Safety. Knowledge and experience of this approach is essential, howevertraining will be provided.About the jobThe Care and Support Plan reviews are currently being undertaken remotely using Microsoft Teams. We are interested in recruiting a wide range of candidates and the reviews can be undertaken remotely. We would also welcomecandidates from other areas of the United Kingdom, with experience of Child In Need Reviews and will offer training in the context of Welsh legislation. The Care and Support Plan Reviewing Officer role will introduce independent reviewing to all children andyoung people subject to a Care and Support Plan. You will need to review and make recommendations utilising outcome based care planning approaches, which will impact and improve lives of children and young people. This will include knowing and recognisingwhere there are safeguarding concerns, or alternatively when non statutory services might better support a child or their family.As a Reviewing Officer there are opportunities to work flexibly in line with Cardiffs flexible working policy.What We Are LookingFor From YouThe main duties of the post holder will be to ensure you are focussed on the needs of children and ensuring they are addressed, minimising drift and checking the consistency of care planning and decision-making.You should be a registered experiencedSocial Worker, have experience of working with Care and Support plans as well as Child Protection. You should also be able to demonstrate skills in chairing and reviewing care plans. An ability to work under pressure and to strict deadlines and timescalesis important.
