Job Description

We have been appointed by a well established international Payments company, to recruit for a newly created Card Schemes Compliance Officer vacancy. They are a full end to end Payments Services company, providing a one-stop-shop to the SME market, including card issuing.Our client has exciting expansion plans which will mean lots of career progression opportunities.The role holder will report to the current Head of Legal & Compliance and play a pivotal role in assisting with the set up of the newly formed Card Schemes Compliance Division.Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for ensuring that the companys policies and procedures comply with the relevant card schemes.
  • Develop and oversee control systems to prevent or deal with violations of the card schemes’ rules.
  • Evaluate the efficiency of controls and improve them continuously.
  • Collaborate with various departments to implement and monitor enforcement of card schemes’ rules as updated from time to time.
  • Perform periodic card scheme compliance risk assessments.
  • Lead employee training sessions on issues relating to the card schemes.
  • Assess the company’s future ventures to identify possible card scheme compliance risks.
  • Keep abreast of regulatory developments in relation to the relevant card schemes.
  • Prepare card scheme compliance reports for the Chief Legal and Compliance Officer.
  • Prepare reports as requested by the card schemes from time to time.
  • Managing notifications and non-compliance assessments received by the card schemes.
  • Foreseeing implementation of requirements that arise from the card schemes from time to time; and
  • Acting as a contact point with the card schemes as required.
  • Skills/Experience Required:
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience working as a Compliance Officer or similar position in the banking or payments industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of the payments industry standards/processes and regulations (including the payment card schemes regulations).
  • Experience in communicating with the card schemes (Mastercard and Visa).
  • Excellent knowledge of reporting procedures and record keeping.
  • Methodical and diligent with outstanding planning abilities.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Qualifications:
  • Certification as a compliance professional.
  • Degree in law, finance, business administration or related field is considered to be an asset.
