Job Description

Capital Markets Technology Business Analysis will partner with Business, Internal IT and 3rd party Vendor resources to enhance existing software and/or develop new solutions to meet business needs. The Business Analyst is responsible for ensuring Regulatoryrequirements are vetted and understood by both Business and IT.Client DetailsA large International bank based in LondonDescription Capital Markets Technology Business Analysis Responsibility and Authority

  • Responsible for BA work associated with a global IT team with a focus on regulatory and control functions
  • Support the project manager in project origination of IT business solutions
  • Project responsibilities expand to branch officesOrganisational Structure
  • This role reports to the Back-Office Risk, Reg, and Control BA Team Lead who in turn reports to Director for Business Analysis in Business Applications Delivery.Key Stakeholders
  • This role has a heavy involvement with our Compliance, and other Middle and Back Office business partners. There is also involvement with FO teams where there is overlap. Interaction with in-house developers and third-party vendor relationships play a keypart in the delivery of this role.
The successful candidate will
  • Work with business stakeholders to produce analysis of IT business solutions in the regulatory, control and risk functions, liaising with internal and external stakeholders and IT staff to ensure success.
  • Understand the implications of each project and ensure that risks and issues are monitored throughout, in particular timely escalations and proactive actions to meet objectives
  • Maintain communication throughout a projects life cycle in a consistent manner, with regular reporting to the Project Manager.
  • Independently research issues/questions from the business to facilitate a resolution, escalating where appropriate
  • Proactively identifying, specifying and documenting business requirements from key business stakeholders. Leading and facilitating working group discussions and workshops.
  • Design business solutions, produce technical requirement documentation and analyse vendor proposed solutions
  • 3rd Party relationship management with Vendors
  • Working across functions of the company to meet project objectives, including Business Analysts, Developers, Testers, BAU Application Support, Operations, Risk, Compliance, and Finance
  • Creating and executing test plans and ensuring approval of delivered solutions
  • Defining documentation, training and delivery for successful project hand-over

Profile Capital Markets Technology Business Analysis Education / Experience Specific Knowledge and Experience
  • Experience and understanding of a Derivatives and Securities banking environment
  • Excellent analytical, strategic thinking and problem-solving skills, including a thorough understanding of how to interpret business needs and translate them into application and operational requirements
  • Demonstrated experience of creating technical requirements/specification documentation
  • Evidenced experience in a Business Analyst role in regulatory, risk, controls, or finance software and business solution projects in line with cost, quality and time constraints to the highest standard within a Financial organisation or Software Vendors
  • Strong work ethic with focus on meeting deadlines and objectives
  • Familiarity with SDLC - Demonstrate experience of managing end to end delivery of technical solutions in line with strategic goals, from initiation and design to implementation and closure
  • Experience of front to back office trading and associated systems
  • Experience with Vendor Management preferred
  • Demonstrated understanding and delivery, including migration, of regulatory, risk, controls, or finance projects relating to Financial Services
  • Understanding of Regulatory processes and BAU expectations
  • Experience of financial risk, operational risk, and/or regulatory (MiFID II, EMIR, MAR) projects/initiative
  • Exposure to regulatory capital projects (CRR/CRD, SA-CCR, IFPR, FRTB) advantageous.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to communicate effectively and confidently with users, team members and management
  • Demonstrated experience dealing with high level stakeholders in a financial environment
Key Skills & Qualifications
  • Graduate degree in Economics or a quantitative discipline preferred.
  • Experience with financial and/or operational risk projects welcome.
  • Experience with Finance Regulatory projects welcome.
  • Good Excel based spreadsheet, quantitative and data management skills
  • Familiarity / Hands-on experience with manual and automated testing environments
  • Experience in both waterfall and agile delivery preferred.
  • Knowledge of software for use in project life cycles, e.g. JIRA, MS Project
  • Strong skills working with MS Excel, MS Project, MS Word, MS Power Point
  • Familiarity with SQL, .Net and C#/++ (or other relevant languages) and VBA preferred
