Job Description

CABLE PULLER - CIVIL ENGINEERING - LONDON - £26,000 - 38,000 PER YEAR + OVERTIME & VANOur client is a civil engineering and utilities contractor with multi-disciplined operations within the Power, Water, Telecoms, Rail and Oil & Gas sectors, with a geographical coverage across London and Southern England.The company undertakes the planning, design, supply, installation and commissioning of utility infrastructure networks for the likes of National Grid, SSEN, WPD, UKPN, Openreach, Cityfibre and Network Rail.Due to the continued growth of the business, they are currently recruiting experienced Cable Pullers to build and maintain new and existing Core Telecommunications Access Networks, specifically fibre cable pulling and installation, jointing and testing.THE ROLE

  • As an Experienced Cable Fitter your role will involve heavy cable pulling, either with assist equipment or by-hand, internal cable installation of invisilight cable within multi dwelling units, jointing at internal & external locations, and identifyingcables/parts of cables to be worked on in various locations and environments.
  • You will be working safely under the National Roads & Street Works Act on various sites
  • Work on internal databases to record actions & daily whereabouts
  • Using telecoms installation & test equipment
  • Adherence to Openreach quality standards - Copies of the quality standards will be provided by our client at audit
  • Recording changes and updates made, as a result of work carried out, updating with details on task closure
  • Work with Fibre cables to client specification
  • Work to Safe Working Practices and Gas Testing (NRSWA Signing, Lighting & Guarding)
  • Working in and around London
THE PERSON
  • Experience of installing cables in an underground network-Fibre-copper environment.
  • Preferably hold existing BT accreditations or have previous BT experience.
  • Rodding and soping, installing cables and sub-duct: 1 year
  • Experience working with design schematics, duct diagrams and works instructions.
  • Experience of rodding and roping, installing cables and sub-duct into existing duct network, mechanical winching.
  • Experience in locating blockages and producing blockage clearance diagrams.
  • Ability to work in varying field environments-day and night internally and externally.
  • Ability to produce, update and interpret records of daily work logs, data recordings and network design maps.
  • Adhere to all Health & Safety, Quality and Environmental policies.
  • You must have the ability to use a portable device for recording time sheets on a weekly basis and record data via a web based app.
  • Van, tools and PPE provided. You must have a full driving license, preferably with the ability to tow a cabling trailer.
  • Live in or around London

  • £26,000 - £38,000 Depending on experience
  • 8-hour shift (40 hours per week)
  • Monday to Friday
  • Weekend/overtime available
