Through the work of our pioneering scientists, our dedicated conservationists and our unrivalled animal experts in our two zoos, we guide and enable others in the UK and all across the world.Inspiring, informing, empowering - working for wildlife.Buyers Administrative AssistantLocation: London NW1Hours: Full TimeContract: PermanentSalary: £23,583 (including London Weighting)Department (and Section) - Zoos and Engagement - Buying & MerchandisingRole ProfileZSL is looking for a Buyers Administrative Assistant to assist in maximising the profitability of ZSL, within the Buying and Merchandising function through effective sourcing, developing product concepts and buying fit for purpose ranges for the ZSL visitor,within budgeted parameters. The successful candidate will assist the Junior Buyer and Assistant Buyer and contribute to the overall delivery of a profitable and commercial range, that maximises every sales opportunity.Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supports the Buyer and Assistant Buyer in the delivery of product development and buying the departments categories
  • Assists in maintaining a range that is varied and caters to all customer segments across a wide range of product categories.
  • Assists in ensuring products are ordered for key commercial/product launch dates
  • Facilitate cross departmental requests and ordering of in-house supplies.
  • Liaises with suppliers and stores regarding product quality challenges under the supervision of the Assistant Buyer
  • Sets up products in the system ensuring all category, attributes, cost prices and selling prices are updated and maintained to ensure a smooth product launch.
  • Sets up the new season purchase orders for sign off and sends to the supply base.
  • With the guidance of the Assistant Buyer, ensures regular maintenance and updating of the range plan, product packs and range guides is completed
  • Responsible for the maintenance of the samples and rotation with instruction from the Junior Buyer
  • Supporting the Buying team at trade shows to keep ahead of the competition and presents reports to the team as required.
Person Specification
  • Previous BAA experience desirable.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages with numeracy and IT skills.
  • Good spoken and written communication skills.
  • Ability to analyse data and reports.
  • Ability to identify problems and implement appropriate solutions.
  • A keen eye for detail with quantitative and qualitative data.
  • Flexible and organised approach to workload.
  • Adaptable and calm under pressure
  • Full clean driving license as travel to both Whipsnade and London sites is a key part of the role.
