Job Description

We are looking for a talented, diligent and client-focused Business Intelligence professional.The ideal candidate will have extensive experience deploying, administering and developing BI platforms. They will also be a strong leader, communicator and used to working with all levels of business users, especially C-level.A deep understanding of data strategy, vision, methodology, and its importance in an enterprise organisation is a must. An always learning’, the consultative-type character is also essential.The candidate will be comfortable holding training/requirements workshop sessions with business and technical stakeholders.A deep understanding of advanced Looker functionality, methodology and modelling techniques with the ability to demonstrate this is an absolute must-have.Key Skills - Mandatory:

  • Looker expert (not a dashboard builder) - modelling, admin, performance tuning, resource monitoring, liquid and advanced Looker techniques
  • Data modelling - DTs, PDTs, nested queries, advanced modelling techniques with Looker/SQL
  • Advanced SQL across different dialects
  • Advanced report building in Looker - custom visualisations, Sankey, HTML, tile click through, header navigation etc.
  • Consultative expert on reporting design principles, keeping in line with Looker best practices
  • Solid understanding and knowledge of multi-industry terminologies and logic (CTR, CR, YoY, COS etc.)
  • Deep understanding of data warehousing, data modelling, relational data models and structuring data
  • Deep and broad understanding of modelling data across huge scale data sets (petabytes) to guarantee performance and reporting SLAs
  • Ability to present findings in a structured, clear manner with actionable insights
  • Training - comfortable performing and leading classroom-based training, knowledge share sessions and co-dev sessions with business and technical stakeholders
  • Performance tuning - a deep and demonstrable ability to optimise queries, slow running dashboards and models in Looker to enhance performance and guarantee dashboard/Explore SLAs
  • Advanced Looker features - liquid variables, liquid conditionals, required field params, dashboard linking, filter carry over, sets and extensions, API embedding, backups, LDAP & advanced auth.
  • A deep and broad understanding of marketing data and campaign data
  • An understanding of the end to end data landscape and the ability to communicate detailed technical requirements with data science and engineering teams, as well as the ability to translate this to non-technical stakeholders
  • GIT and GIT integration in Looker
  • Agile working and sprint planning a must
  • Advanced testing and UAT of workloads and outcomes, demonstrable with their own methodology
  • Security, GDPR and PII data handling principles
    • Additional Skills:
  • Trello/JIRA
  • Experience working in an enterprise organisation
  • Data warehouse design and architecture
  • Impeccable requirements gathering and documentation skills
  • Strong AWS/Redshift/Snowflake experience
  • Multiple BI tool experience
  • HTML (for visuals in Looker)
  • Knowledge of Fivetran and ETL/ELT tools
