Job Description

Our client is a leading, London-based firm specialising in Intellectual Property-related matters.They are looking for a highly skilled Business Development Manager to be working with clients as well as with internal stakeholders across multiple teams on a variety of business development initiatives and activities.Client DetailsOur client is a leading Intellectual Property (IP) firm with this role being based out of their London office in the heart of the Legal district. Our client is one of Europes largest IP firms and has 22 offices across Europe.Our client has a particularly large presence across Germany and The Netherlands, so speaking either German or Dutch in addition to speaking English is desirable but not essential.DescriptionYou will be responsible for supporting attorneys, particularly new partners, directors and senior attorneys, in the pursuit of selling intellectual property services to new clients both in the UK and Europe. You will also be asked to work with selected clientmanagers to support them in their development plans. The role supports the business plans of the firms strategy and also the plans of the 7 strategic business units within the firm. This is a new role and previous experience of selling professional servicesis essential.The Business Development team consists of eight people who provide BD and marketing support to each of our clients offices in the UK and Europe across 7 Strategic business units.

  • Work with attorneys defined by their group head to develop clear sales plans
  • Undertake research and support to define and create strategies for prospect contact and development
  • Regular review of sales plans on a quarterly basis
  • Assist selected attorneys with their approach through coaching, and hands on support
  • Chase follow up and where relevant undertake follow up
  • Attend events in Europe and attend events that have been identified within the team plans and attorney plan where you can add support to attorneys
  • Support the spin sales initiative as a coach
  • Work directly with the Dutch team to develop their sales in line with the team and firm plans
  • Work with the BD team to enhance the new bespoke CRM system for sales management and reporting
  • Manage the sales pipeline for your predefined group of attorneys
  • Support the marketing messages & campaigns
  • Feed intelligence from the mark into the marketing team
  • Monitor client reviews
  • Assist in the development of client plans
  • Attend client management meetings when asked by attorneys
ProfileB2B sales experience needed is needed but please note that this is a highly consultative, strategic and macro business development role where you will be providing a lot of support to internal stakeholders on sales/business development planning, not a hard,fast cold business development role. A professional services background would be good, as would legal or you coming with some scientific exposure. Our client would love it if you could speak/had language skilld in one of German, Dutch (these two languagesin particular), French or Spanish (these two languages as a secondary preference) in addition to being fluent in English, but it is not at all a deal breaker if you cannot.

  • Strong decision-making abilities with good attention to detail
  • Client centric and a confident communicator at all levels of the firm
  • Good listener, ability to work well in a team and able to travel across the UK & Europe
