A Day in the Life of a Freshfields Strategic Solutions ManagerI start my day at 100 Bishopsgate coffee shop, where I bump into a partner from DR and we had a chat about the headlines Id seen this morning and a potential opportunity for a client. I promise Id follow up with them and head to my desk to have my coffeewhilst chatting to a colleague in Asia. We are collaborating on a new Global initiative and want to ensure we are including some local market trends in the collateral. I then join a virtual kick off meeting for a big pitch to share practice area insights anda suggested focus for the win strategy. My colleague responsible for Directories entries suggests involving some additional partners due to their expertise so I go to their offices to see them. On the way, I see an IP partner who mentions they have a clientmeeting the next day. I check they have all the talking points they need and make a note to follow up after the meeting.I spend some time working on a practice marketing strategy which is due for review this week and then move on to a promotional document request. After understanding the partners objectives I recall we did something similar recently and so after briefingthe design team, I set up a call to connect the two partners. At lunchtime I eat with some Sectors colleagues where we discuss how to tailor a piece of work specifically for a Tech client. We all leave in different directions, with one going to support the Mental Health Clinic as they recently did the mental firstaiders course and the other going to a Spanish Lunchtime language class. I decided to take the long way back to my desk and walk the corridors to see who was around. I bump into a group of associates who Ive been working with on the new trainee training events. After chatting to them I saw an opportunity to involve another area of the firm so I headed back to email an introduction. That was when I remembered to share the interesting headlines Id seen this morning around the team in London and Frankfurt where I felt it was most relevant, including a draft email I wrote for them to share with partners who are contacting clients. I spoketo a colleague in Global Markets to ensure they already had this on their radar. During our team meeting I added this as a potential new piece of work to the Kanban board. At 4pm we all gathered around to have a mini-baby shower for a colleague of ours who is going on maternity leave. I took some photos of us having tea and cakes to post on the intranet and I share them with our US colleagues when I join their team meeting. We discuss a cross-practice initiative on Sustainability and how to support the partner team in creating a toolkit. We set some deadlines for following up and identify clients who may find it interesting.Im a Client Relationship Manager so I end my day preparing for the upcoming Quarterly Client Meeting. I think through our library of initiatives to consider the best solution to raise with them. I plan to walk to the tube listening to the latest Freshfieldspodcast on Digital Transformation, but get distracted by the Halo Film Screening being held and so decide to join my LGBT+ colleagues for the evening. As I come out of the screening I see that the partner I met this morning has cced me into a client emailand the client wants to meet to discuss the opportunity.
