Job Description

Would you be interested in taking on the exciting challenge of becoming Bursar for a prestigious and high performing Independent School As Bursar, you would be a member of the Leadership Team and advisor to the Governing Body, providingstrategic leadershipand management on all aspects of school business management across the School. Workingto continuously improve effectiveness and performance, you will manage and lead the finance, HR, IT, facilities and catering teams, in supporting the school in attainingits aims and objectives.Your role will include responsibilities including the following:

  • Advising on general financial policy within the school.
  • Preparing annual estimates of income and expenditure to include the preparation of departmental budgets.
  • Working with the Registrar and Senior Leadership Team to determine pupil numbers and make-up (including special needs)
  • Preparing pupil fees and collecting all fees and extras, including collection of outstanding debt and enforcing terms and conditions of registration.
  • Advising on employment matters including disciplinary procedures.
  • Monitoring and implementing the schools policy to comply with the requirements of health and safety legislation.
  • Acting as correspondent with the Department for Education (DfE) and being responsible for the records and returns required.
  • Advising on and taking the appropriate physical security measures within the school for protection of bothstaff and pupils.
  • Maintaining contact with the statutory authorities and other organisations.
  • Management of the estates and facilities including the upkeep of the premises.
This role encompasses many other areas, which can be seen in the job description.To be considered for this role, and successful in securing it, youll need to demonstrate the following skills and attributes:
  • Fully qualified ACCA/CIMA or equivalent.
  • Strong experience in leading the non-academic areas within an Independent School.
  • Exceptional communication and leadership skills.
  • Ideally, you will have an enhanced DBS
