Job Description

Building Safety Manager Team LeaderSalary: £50,655-£61,911Job Grade: Level 5 Zone 2Hours per week: 36Contract type: PermanentClosing date: 20th November 2022Interviews to be held: week commencing 28th November 2022 Alternative flexible working options available/open to discussionAdecco Public Sector is proud to be working with the London Borough of Camden, as they seek to recruit several critical roles to work within their Building and Resident Safety Teams.Reporting to the Head of Resident and Building Safety, your role will be to ensure the regulatory requirements of the Building Safety Act, for Camdens circa 150 High Rise Residential Buildings (HRRBs). This a defining moment to be joining Camden, duringa time when we are seeing some of the biggest changes across the occupied building sector for a generation.The roleYou will lead a team of 10 Building Safety Managers, managing fire and structural safety for Camdens HRRBs, and developing systems that will identify wide-ranging building safety risks, whilst prioritising and mitigating them appropriately.This team will produce building safety cases and will have the over-arching responsibility for the matrix management of these buildings, including the commissioning/production of building surveys required to support or inform the Building Safety Cases processor to manage specific risks.You will oversee all regulatory requirements, including making representations to the Building Safety Regulator, and Fire Rescue Services and producing a clear performance framework to provide visibility to Camdens Senior Management Team to demonstratecompliance.This role requires a confident and proactive individual as you will be acting as the strategic lead, in regular communication with various internal and external stakeholders, such as residents, Council committee members, staff, senior managers, the BuildingSafety Regulator and fire & rescue service.You will be responsible for developing Resident Engagement Strategies for the HRRBs and you will ensure the team adopts a clear communication plan for residents. You will establish systems working with internal services to manage and monitor risk where appropriate.About youThis role is multi-faceted and with that, we welcome applications from a range of backgrounds related to safety assurance. You may have previously worked in Facilities Management, Building Services, Residential Surveying, Asset Compliance, or within theFire Service. You may have monitored Health & Safety, Asbestos, Legionella, Electrical Compliance, or managed residential property, whilst acting as a point of contact for the residents of those buildings.In addition, you may have experience with one or more of the following:

  • Relevant Asset Management, Construction, and/or Fire Safety qualifications. (Degree or diploma in construction or fire safety).
  • Thorough understanding of Fire Safety Regulatory Reform Order 2005 and Building Safety Act 2022.
  • Knowledge of building construction and maintenance industries, including the design process, contractual matters, and legislation.
  • A relevant Fire Safety qualification (NEBOSH National Certificate) accredited by the IFE or IFSM or equivalent.
  • Professional membership to Chartered status (or working towards) or equivalent of a body working in the Built or Safety Environment (e.g. MIfireE, MCIOB, MRIC, MCABE, IOSH).
  • Experience in managing a multi-disciplinary team, and delivering complex works or services.
  • Experience in reviewing technical specifications for building fabric and M&E works.
  • Previous experience of the management of a multi-disciplinary team delivering complex works or services.
