Job Description

Our client is looking to recruit a Building Maintenance & Compliance Category Buyer.The Procurement Unit has been established for 5+ years and is on a journey to initiate procurement transformation and carry out savings delivery projects.

  • You will be responsible for leading on the development of strategic procurement activity and projects for your defined portfolio
  • Be the interface and the main point of contact for the stakeholders in the procurement project teams defined within your portfolio
  • Undertake and manage the effective delivery of the Procurement Strategy, policies and procedures and savings programme for your portfolio in order to provide a professional procurement service to stakeholders
  • Provide best practice procurement advice and end to end sourcing project management for stakeholders
  • Manage end to end sourcing activity including the development of sourcing strategies and approaches, running tenders, negotiating and implementing contracts for use by stakeholders.
  • Understand key commercial drivers and commercial success criteria for procurement undertaken within your portfolio and act as procurement challenge within the procurement governance process. Initiate and develop business cases, reports and other governancepapers as required and present to the appropriate internal and external stakeholders
  • Undertake and deliver the Savings Programme assigned to your portfolio and deliver cashable savings opportunities for this Category. Undertake the implementation of proactive cost reduction and supplier improvement programmes, as defined by the Head ofProcurement in order to deliver best value for the Territory
  • Be responsible for supplier relationships for your designated contracts and undertake contract management functions.
  • Undertake commercial negotiations with suppliers to ensure best value is obtained for the client
  • Undertake the creation and marketing of category plans and identify where corrective action is needed to ensure procurement issues are managed effectively throughout the procurement cycle.
  • Manage supply market and supplier research activity to support the development of strategic plans and undertake Market appraisal exercises in order to develop and maintain core knowledge sufficient to identify best value options
  • Track and report key functional metrics to reduce costs and improve effectiveness
  • Support the development of positive relationships with key senior stakeholders to raise awareness of the benefits of a strategic approach to spend management.
  • Provide category and strategic sourcing insight to enable the stakeholders to make informed choices about the way in which its expenditure is deployed
  • Manage and / or coordinate project teams to deliver procurements, providing strategic sourcing advice and support to stakeholders on the management of in scope contracts and supplier relationships. Undertake the identification and implementation of innovativesourcing approaches to deliver projects to enhance levels of service and minimise costs, ensuring compliance with the overall Procurement strategy and seek to safeguard contractual and commercial risk.
  • Conduct due diligence about Suppliers to ascertain if they are suitable for inclusions in tenders, reviewing PQQs or suitability for adding to the clients Supply Chain.
You have
  • Either a level 4 CIPS qualification or relevant experience
  • Significant experience of being a sourcing expert, including running tenders and drafting contracts for a variety of different goods and services across the category
  • Strong and demonstrable experience of effective project planning, delivery & management
  • Strong and demonstrable experience of successful issue resolution
  • Strong and demonstrable experience of successfully delivering against individual savings targets
  • Demonstrable excellent communication and influencing skills - both verbal and written
  • Supplier Relationship Management experience
  • The ability to effectively and successfully manage a diverse range of stakeholders, both internal and external, at all levels
  • Excellent and demonstrable analytical and commercial skills
  • The ability to produce high quality written reports
  • Proven experience of carrying out successful negotiations
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills including Excel, Word and PowerPoint
You may have
  • Previous experience in delivering procurement activities for third sector organisations
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent
