Job Description

A charity who works closely with Morgan Hunt are looking to recruit a Breakfast and After school Play Leader on a Permanent basis. The hours for this role will be 26.75 a week working in term time only.The Breakfast and After school Play Leader will be responsible for running the site in line with the charities standards and procedures. They will lead a team in the delivery of high quality childcare for primary school aged children.The day-to-day responsibilities of the Breakfast and After school Play Leader are:

  • Applying professional standards of care at all times with due regard for the safety,physical and emotional needs of the children, including an awareness of childprotection/safeguarding
  • Providing the highest quality of care in accordance with OFSTED regulations
  • Promptly dealing with anything of an unusual or serious nature reported by the play workers.
  • Providing a range of nutritious snacks.
  • Club equipment is treated respectfully, maintained and taken care of.
  • Provide a variety of creative and appropriate play activities, by planning, together withother staff and the children, varied weekly and term activity programmes.
  • Dealing with accidents appropriately by ensuring that first aid is administered andaccident details recorded in the accident file and reported in full to the parent/carer.
  • Build relationships with parents/carers, school staff and the local authority.
  • Supervising the play workers as they work with the children.
  • Keeping daily registers and maintaining childrens records.
  • Essential knowledge for the role of Breakfast and After school Play Leader are:
  • NVQ Level 3 in Play work or equivalent
  • Current Paediatric First Aid certificate or willingness to train within 6 months of starting in post and to continue to hold a current certificate.
  • Current Food Safety certificate or willingness to train within 6 months of starting in post and to continue to hold a current certificate.
  • Experience of providing care for groups of children of primary school age.
  • Experience of providing play activities for groups of children primary school age.
  • Ability to lead and manage a team.
  • Ability to work and use own initiative.
  • Knowledge of childcare regulations.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
