Job Description

As a lead within the buying and merchandising team, you will be responsible for trading and driving forward our basement brand portfolio to deliver business growth for Dover Street Market. This is an ideal role for an individual with proven experience withthe Luxury and Streetwear Retail industry.Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Responsible for developing and trading Basement brands; including major concession spaces and general space assortments including T-Shirt and Sneaker brands
  • Work closely with Head of Merchandising to plan and manage seasonal OTB
  • Agreeing seasonal trade targets and objectives with key concession brands, ensuring performance is well communicated and obligation is shared to deliver results
  • Overseeing and coordinating global scale projects across all DSMs
  • Working closely with Store and Digital teams to successfully oversee and execute multi-channel product launches
  • Travelling to attend key buy appointments where necessary
  • Create and nurture beneficial relationships with the brands, harvesting special product and animation where possible
  • Ensuring that all orders are signed off in accordance with DSM protol, placed on time with suppliers, order confirmations received, and purchase orders placed on the system
  • Directly manage and develop one team member to ensure processes are well managed and stock flow through the business is optimised
  • To work collaboratively and assist the greater team in any way necessary
  • Present for all brand visits to DSM, special events and brand installs
  • To keep a close eye on wider retail landscape ensuring Dover Street Market is ahead of the curve and engaging routinely with emerging opportunities
  • Working closely with Finance team to ensure payments are timely and any issues are resolved
  • Manage the development and progression of an Assistant and Admin Assistant
The Ideal Candidate:
  • Relevant Bachelors degree or equivalent experience
  • Current experience as a buyer with previous streetwear experience
  • Demonstrated ability to build strong brand relationships
  • Good commercial knowledge and extremely product focussed
  • Strong strategic and analytical skills
  • Strong collaboration skills to partner with cross-functional team
  • Must be able to use Excel to a good standard (eg. Pivots, formulas, formatting)
  • Experience with Retail Pro is beneficial
  • Strong numericallycomfortable with simple calculations (eg. Margin, variances, percentages etc)
  • Confident with delivering information effectively to large groups
  • Driven and entrepreneurial; prepared to do whatever it takes to manage their business exceptionally
