Job Description

Bookkeeper / Management Accountant • Entertainment Sector • Immediate Vacancy • South West London • £32,000 - £40,000 (DOE)We are currently looking to identify a skilled Bookkeeper / Management Accountant for an established and much-loved entertainment business based in Wandsworth, South West London. This is an urgent opening, and candidates looking for an immediate start are especially encouraged to apply.Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out bookkeeping (accounts payable & receivable) and data processing using Xero
  • Maintain purchase ledger, sales ledger and nominal ledgers
  • Prepare weekly payment schedules for approval by the HR & Finance Director
  • Maintain a detailed fixed asset register and breakdown between events
  • Carry out monthly reconciliation of all control accounts, including payroll and pensions
  • Sales reporting for various income streams and event profit analysis
  • Data & reporting analysis from online systems, e.g. on-site EPOS system
  • Calculate and process monthly journals for prepayment / accruals / depreciation / payroll and other monthly adjustments
  • Calculate deferred income adjustments monthly for each event and working progress
  • Prepare VAT returns in advance of deadline for review, sign off & submission
  • Prepare management accounts file in the required format and structure, within the given deadlines
  • Keep the business informed of progress and potential problems including actual vs budget, working with all departments within the business
  • Support the HR & Finance Director and external accounts in conducting yearly audits
  • Inherit but lead on improving financial procedures & policies
  • Provide advice and make recommendations for the business based on experience to improve the functionality of your role and the department
  • Ideal Candidate:
  • Have experience working within a fast-paced environment; experience from within the entertainment sector ideal but not necessary
  • Be fully comfortable working with technology and office based software, e.g. Excel, Google Drive & Mail, Xero; youll also need to be able to demonstrate your ability to pick up new systems quickly
  • Be an excellent communicator, whether over the phone, via email or in person; youll be comfortable interacting with a broad range of people and youll thrive in an environment that offers you lots of varied interaction
  • Be able to act on your own initiative and calmly solve problems as they arise (without always needing to resort to management)
  • Have a forward looking and initiative driven outlook to effectively problem solve and improve efficiencies, always making recommendations for growth
  • Be prepared to roll up your sleeves when required and help out the rest of the team during busy periods
