Job Description

Impellam is a leading global Talent Acquisition and Managed Workforce Solutions provider. We are looking for a Bid Manager to support our Regional Specialist Staffing (RSS) brands to include Medacs, Blue Arrow, Tate, Carbon60, Celsian, Career Teachers, Flexy and Chadwick Nott. The role can be based anywhere in the UK supported by hybrid working with occasional travel when needed for bid activities. There are no line management responsibilities but you will report directly into the RSS Head of Bids, deputising when required.Responsibilities:The role is responsible for managing the end-to-end tender process. With a focus on creating innovative recruitment solutions across all sectors, you will work alongside the business development, account management and operational teams to create engagingcontent and provide strategic direction for all bids, proposals, and presentations. As Bid Manager you will:

  • Act as the Bid Lead and manage the end-to-end bid process taking an active role in the Bid / No-Bid decision.
  • Be lead author of written content, creator of bespoke graphics and presentations.
  • Manage virtual bid teams and inputs from key stakeholders i.e., sales, operations, national accounts, implementation, marketing, finance and legal.
  • Work with the Sales Lead to design and develop solutions framed with compelling win themes, value propositions and differentiators.
  • Review documentation, information, and outside sources to understand scope of work, specification and customer needs, potential issues currently faced and develop our approach to solving them
  • Manage the Bid Plan to ensure timescales are achieved at each step of the bid process, managing the compliance and governance requirement, along with managing risks and the bid project deadlines.
  • Co-ordinate, plan, and coach client presentations required as part of the bid submission.
  • Drive continuous improvement, through post-bid reviews and lessons learned, both internally and with customers.
  • Support the sales channels identify and pursue new business opportunities.
  • Support pre-bid preparation for forthcoming bids and larger contracts/PINs with the sales team, including attending pre-market engagements.
  • Conduct research directly or through the Market Insights Lead or Sales Lead to understand the client needs and incorporate win themes, relevant research, and data into proposals.
  • Diligently maintain the content library, response templates, activity tracking and reporting.
  • Develop strong relationships (internal and external) including attendance, where applicable, at face-to-face meetings and presentations.
  • Liaise with other Impellam Group companies to share best practice, understand where dual or multi-brand opportunities may exist and to avoid bid duplication.
Experience:
  • Proven track record in bid management resulting in successful and profitable new appointments.
  • Proven track record in bid writing resulting in successful and profitable new appointments.
  • Proven ability to design solutions with overall client specification and business strategy at its core.
  • Experience in bidding for public sector, not for profit and private sector deals worth £1m-£50m.
  • Business development experience and commercial awareness.
  • Proven ability to prioritise workloads manage multiple projects and negotiate deadlines.
  • Experience collaborating with and managing people internally and externally.
  • Proven ability to identify and scope new bid opportunities that fit with company growth strategy and new markets.
  • Proven ability to propose new and innovative solutions to sometimes complex challenges.
Knowledge:
  • Highest standard of attention to detail.
  • Excellent communicator and comfortable working at Director Level.
  • Understanding of recruitment industry, trends, and good practice.
  • Project management experience with multiple team members and internal/external stakeholders.
  • Highly experienced in Microsoft Office Suite, with exceptional Word and PowerPoint formatting skills.
  • Comfortable working remotely with regular communication through online platforms.
  • APMP Foundation level or above.
