Moorfields NHS Foundation Trust – Bank Ophthalmic Technician We are seeking motivated and trained Ophthalmic Technician to be part of the specialised teams at Moorfields Eye HospitalLooking for flexible shifts to suit your availability or lines of workWhy not join the Moorfields bankYou will get first choice of shifts suited to your availability and skillsShifts will be available between 8am and 17.30pm.PURPOSE OF THE JOBTo perform visual field assessments on a wide variety of patientsTo capture images of the retina using specialised equipmentTo measure visual acuity and accurately test intra ocular pressureTo be responsible for your own case load, prioritising and accepting urgent referrals whennecessaryTo ensure patients are received in a sympathetic and courteous manner and that cultural difference is catered forTo present findings to the medics and other health care professionalsMAIN DUTIESTo perform visual field tests using own initiative but with supervision if neededTo perform retinal tomography measurements using corrective lenses as requiredTo measure visual acuitiesTo measure intra ocular pressuresTo measure patients’ spectacle corrections and interpret this information to select the correct lens for visual field testingTo ensure patients attending the Glaucoma Monitoring Unit understand the new pathwayTo decide on the most appropriate test to perform by applying the protocols and procedures agreed by the Orthoptist and to seek advice when necessaryTo produce high quality readings by using high levels of concentrationHelp in the daily maintenance of the equipment and trial lensesRequired Skills:-VA ( Visual acute)- OCT- 6 months NHS experience in a similar role
