Band 7 - Plus 10% RRPThe Royal Free is a successful Foundation Trust and a major teaching hospital campus within UCL. The cardiology department has expanded greatly in recent years and offers a full range of services. We are the leading European centre for carcinoid heart disease, one of the few UK referral centres for Pulmonary Hypertension and we have close collaboration with the National Amyloid Centre sited at the University site at the RFH.Applications are invited for an experienced BSE accredited, specialist cardiac physiologist in echo to be part of our expanding team. Experience in physiologist stress echo in particular would be of a great advantage. The successful applicant will be able to show a proven record of working to a high standard and will be a self-motivated clinical expert who is organised, flexible, reliable, and able to inspire and advise their colleagues. Experience and proven success in service development and leadership is highly desirable.This post provides an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic, experienced specialist cardiac physiologist to deliver and help develop a high quality echocardiography service as part of a motivated and cohesive team. We are looking for experienced physiologists to help us develop our service, from a robust quality assurance programme, to the creation of specialist clinics such as valve/herceptin/pulmonary hypertension/heart failure /physiologist lead bubble and contrast clinics, as well as physiologist led stress echo and TOE. If you think you have the skills to be an integral member of this advancing department then get in touch.The echocardiography department provides a routine TTE outpatient and inpatient service. More specialised services include 3D, Dobutamine Stress Echo, Exercise Echo, Contrast, Bubble, and TOE.We have weekly review and teaching meetings attended by one or more consultants, registrars, cardiac physiologists and junior staff.All physiologists are encouraged to attend relevant course/meetings as continued professional development is important to our team and post-graduate exams are actively encouraged.Our department has a strong emphasis on teaching/training of echocardiographers, specialist registrars, MSc students, and newly qualified junior members of staff. We support the PTP and STP training programs and the successful candidate would show an ongoing commitment to training in the department.Informal visits are welcomed and highly recommended prior to interview. The post is graded at band 7. We offer a premium payment of 10% for recruitment and retention for candidates that meet the criteria, pending ongoing approval.
