Pursue a career in renal nursing and we’ll support you every step of the way.“Our ultimate goal is to provide clinical excellence and to work as a team in our endeavour to achieve the best possible care for our patients.” Julie Harris, Lead NurseJoin our dedicated team with a worldwide reputation as a centre of excellence and be part of the largest renal and transplant centre in Europe.Based at Hammersmith Hospital, our centre is made up of four inpatient wards with 6 high dependency unit beds, an investigation unit of 18 beds for day-case patients and three further wards, with 59 beds in total. We care for patients undergoing:• Acute Kidney Injury• Established Renal Failure• both Haemodialysis and Peritoneal Dialysis• Kidney and kidney/pancreas transplantation• Renal replacement therapy with other related health problemsWe also have outpatient departments based at Hammersmith and St Mary’s hospitals seeing patients who have undergone kidney and/or pancreas transplants. There is also an Acute Dialysis unit and Home Therapies Unit on the Hammersmith Hospital site and eight satellite dialysis units all across North West London providing patients with haemodialysis close to their homes.Your role will cover three main areas – nephrology, transplantation and dialysis. Many of our patients are admitted via our own emergency admission pathway and you will be required to deliver acute medical and surgical care. You will be supported every step of the way as we help you to develop your knowledge, skills and clinical expertise in advanced assessment and patient management skills.We are committed to CPD and there are many educational and training opportunities to help build your career in Renal Nursing. There is a dedicated Renal Education team to help provide you with the education and clinical support you require.Previous experience in a renal setting is not a requirement.
