Job Description

Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust is the UK’s first Academic Health Science Centre, and brings together world class research, teaching and clinical services. The AHSC has in excess of 9,700 staff and a budget of £950 million. The trust is dedicated to improving health outcomes by delivering the highest quality integrated healthcare, research and service provision.The Trust provides a Day Nursery at the Charing Cross Hospital; this is mainly used by the staff but is also available to the general public. The Charing Cross Day Nursery site is managed by the Resourcing Service of the Directorate of People & OD.We are looking for an enthusiastic, hardworking, dedicated Assistant Childcare Practitioner to join our team for a substantive contract.You will undertake childcare duties working alongside Qualified Childcare Practitioners, and be responsible for your key children, and provide excellent customer service to members of the public and staff who use the nursery.Although no formal childcare qualification is required you must be able demonstrate an understanding of the childcare sector and have an interest in working with children, you will need to have excellent communication and inter-personal skills together with the ability to demonstrate initiative.The Trust is strongly committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of its staff, patients and children. This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.The successful candidates will be:Passionate about working with childrenHard workingA great team playerHappy, friendly and patientHave experience with Babies, Toddlers and the Pre-school childrenMust have good understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum and the 7 areas of learning.General and Specific Knowledge

  • A thorough and competent knowledge of children’s developmental and emotional needs and the ability to transfer this into practice.
  • Awareness of Health and Safety within their job role, proven ability to maintain a high standard of health and safety at all times.
  • Effective knowledge of the EYFS, child observation skills and the ability to develop and nurture children according to their individual requirements Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to record and pass on information accurately, effectively and concisely between management, staff, parents and children.
  • Ability to accept instructions and commitment to personal development.
  • Ability to co-operate with others both formally and informally and to work as part of a team member.
