About The RoleAs one of the Cloud Consultants of this team, your main role is to understand customers needs and to take ownership of the implementation of customer projects. We help them choose the right tools and services, build highly scalable secure infrastructure and help them manage the maintenance of those environments.We come up with creative solutions to difficult problems and every engineer gets to have a large direct impact on each of those customers.The team is made up of engineers from all around the country in distributed teams. You can work fully remote or at any Claranet UK office - most people choose a combination of the two.   • Working with customers to translate business requirements into technical implementations
  • Designing and building templates and patterns to be used by customers and the rest of the team
  • You will be expected to deliver large-scale cloud migration projects
  • Youll shadow and mentor other engineers to help them resolve complex support issues
  • Youll engage with key customer stakeholders in technical, pre-sales and commercial conversations
  • Youll be able to produce new written technical content for external use by our customers
  • Youll be required to present content to a mixed-skilled audience
  • Taking ownership of customer projects and ensuring timely delivery
  • Providing escalation assistance to the support team
  • Helping to mentor other members of the team, delivering feedback and raising the general skill level
  • Diagnosing issues under pressure and seeing them through to resolution
  • Keeping abreast of new technologies and changes in the industry
Essential
  • Excellent, in-depth knowledge of AWS and associated technologies (min. certified AWS Solution Architect Associate)
  • Demonstrable experience with modern configuration management tool
  • Demonstrable experience with infrastructure as code (Terraform)
  • Experience of at least one scripting or programming language (Python etc)
  • Able to produce written technical content; experienced in presenting to a mixed-skilled audience.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Able to work autonomously, identifying and prioritising tasks; experienced enough to know when to seek input from others
In addition, the following are highly desirable:
  • Certified AWS Solution Architect Professional
  • Knowledge of both Windows and Linux
  • Experience with more than one hyper-scaler platform (AWS, Azure, GCP, Ali Cloud)
  • Further experience with Hashicorp tooling (Consul, Vault, Packer)
