Job Description

Attendance Information OfficerLocation: Newham Salary: NJC07 (Inner) Start Date: January 2023 or soonerA fantastic academy in East London is currently is looking to recruit an attendance information officer to join our dynamic and highly skilled welfare team.About the school: This school is an all through school, providing a world- class education for children cross East London and the secondary phase is heavily oversubscribed. The school has set ambitious academic standards backed up by exciting enrichment opportunities, whilstnurturing and caring for the wellbeing of all children. The school has recently opened a sixth form and is looking to reach full capacity of students by 2024.The school is part of a trust which has a passionate belief that by offering young people an outstanding range of opportunities they will discover what they can excel at and transform their life chances.The trust has 4 key values they promote across their schools: Aspirations- always aiming high, Ambition- Being the best we can be, Courage- Nothing holds us back and Respect- Always leading by Example.The Role:Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • To maintain accurate and up to date attendance/lateness records both manually and electronically and to ensure ongoing monitoring of attendance for all children to promote good attendance across the school.
  • Administer a daily attendance and punctuality check each morning and support following up the daily absences by telephone/message or other means including checking the school answerphone for absence messages and record appropriately on the database
  • Process and record children who arrive late, leave during the school day and those who are collected late after the end of the school day.
  • Check and follow-up any missing or anomalous marks in registers.
  • Input attendance data onto schools database and generate reports as required
The right candidate must:
  • Experience of working with young people and their families in a primary or secondary setting
  • Experience of working in high-performing contexts
  • Experience helping students to overcome significant barriers to learning
  • Experience of working in an all-through school setting (Desirable)
  • Experience of leading improvements in pupil attendance over a sustained period of time (Desirable)
