Ref. No. SU FV-1837-21at the Department of Materialsand Environmental Chemistry. The Department of Materials and EnvironmentalChemistry comprises the research areas analytical, physical, inorganic, andmaterials chemistry, the latter being one of the leadingresearch areas ofStockholm University. The current focus of analytical chemistry is thedevelopment of techniques and methods for the determination andcharacterization of organic compounds in environmental and biological samples,as well as textiles and newmaterials. This includes but is not limited tochromatography, mass spectrometry, ion mobility, multidimensional and coupledanalytical systems, fast quantitative screening, non-target analysis methods,as well as combining analytical techniques with data science.The departmentalso hosts Stockholm University Center for Circular and Sustainable Systems(SUCCeSS), where analytical chemistry has a central role. A new research fieldat MMK revolves around the design of microfluidic lab-on-a-chip devices forenvironmentalanalysis on-site and clinical diagnostics at the point-of-care.Subject Analytical chemistry Subject description Analytical chemistry comprises development oftechniques and methods for qualitative and quantitative determination ofchemical compounds in differentmatrices, as well as studies of the physicalprocesses and chemical interactions that enable separation and detection.Main responsibilities Research and in addition some teaching and supervision.Qualification requirementsIn order to qualify for the positionas assistantprofessor, the applicant must have completed a doctoral degree in Sweden or anequivalent degree from another country. In the first instance, an applicantshould be considered who has received such a degree no more than five yearsbefore the deadlinefor applications. However, an applicant who has receivedsuch a degree earlier may be considered under special circumstances. All teaching positions at Stockholm Universityrequire the ability to collaborate and the general ability and suitability toperformones duties. Assessment criteria In the appointment process, special attention willbe given to research skills. Teaching skills will also be considered. Theassessment of research skills will focus primarily on merits within the subjectarea of the position.Additional informationFor this position, the assistant professor isemployed until further notice, but no longer than six years. The contract maybe extended to a maximum of eight years under special circumstances, such asdue to sick leave or parental leave.An assistant professor may, on application, bepromoted to a permanent position as associate professor. Specific criteria forpromotion from assistant professor to associate professor have been establishedby the Faculty of Science. An application for promotionto associate professorshould be submitted to the faculty at least nine months before the appointmentas assistant professor expires. This position (in Swedish, "bitrdande lektor") isa tenure track position, and the qualification requirements and terms ofemploymentare regulated by the Higher Education Ordinance (SFS 2017:844).At the time of promotion, the candidate is expectedto be able to carry out teaching and administrative duties that require goodcommand of Swedish.
