Job Description

Associate Publishing Manager, Nature MasterclassesPermanentLondonClosing date: July 12th 2021Nature Masterclasses was developed to provide a range of professional training to researchers to help them - and their institutions - succeed.Owing to our ambitiousproduct growth plans, we now have an exciting opportunity for an Associate Publishing Manager to contribute to the development and delivery of the rapidly growing portfolio of online and blended training courses on the Nature Masterclasses platform, deliveredto researchers around the world.The key function of the role is to support the Publishing Manager and Learning Design Manager to develop, deliver and maintain the researcher training suite for the Nature Masterclasses online products and services. The AssociatePublishing Manager will have the opportunity to hone their skills in publishing, researcher environment and learning design.The ideal candidate will be creative, organised and have a can-do mind-set. They will be passionate about the effective training ofresearchers, with experience working on publishing projects, project management and/or co-ordinating content development.ResponsibilitiesKey tasks include but are not limited to: Support the Publishing Manager to develop new course proposals, including helpingto commission subject matter experts and expert reviewers Assist with creating schedules and timelines with key project dates/milestones for on-going projects. Monitor progress and help ensure that the project team are kept on track Help recruit and coordinatefreelancers for content, multimedia and instructional design Manage the workflow for copy-editing and proofreading of content in storyboard and eLearning format; and support work on clearing rights and permissions Organise filming trips or remote filming tointerview experts for video clips in the courses (this might involve some travel to coordinate logistics on the road) Work with the marketing team to create product collateral ready for course launch Assist the Publishing Manager and Learning Design Managerin the testing and implementation of new/pilot products and services as required Work closely with colleagues in the face-to-face training teams on piloting new products and services, particularly those that involve blended learning. Help ensure that the qualityof the Nature and Nature Research brands is maintained across all training materials as the products grow. Help keep abreast of the competition to ensure that we continue to provide a best-in-class product to our customers.Experience/Skills Essential 1-2 yearsexperience in scientific research or scientific publishing, science communication or educational/training product development Knowledge of the eLearning landscape Proven project management skills and experience in project delivery, ideally in a commercialenvironment Knowledge of the needs of scientists and other researchers An understanding of the needs of non-native English end-users, using English-language course materials Experience working within higher education and/or Experience of working within digitalpublishing at an educational or academic publisher Excellent communication skills, with confidence to lead meetings with peers Comfortable working with usage data analysis Ability to work under pressure to tight deadlines Excellent written and verbal communicationskillsDesirable Knowledge of eLearning instructional design or online trainingQualifications Graduate degree (ideally in the sciences) or equivalent experience in digital or scientific publishingAll employees are working remotely but when the London officere-opens, you will be required to be based on site in line with our working from home policy.To Apply: Please include a covering letter and CV, expressing your interest in the role as well as your salary expectations and notice period.
