Job Description

Job Title: Analyst Developer Front Office (AVP)Corporate Title: OOPD ITSD Capital Markets Software Development, Front Office Development TeamLocation: London, UKDepartment/Group: Front Office Development TeamResponsible to/Line Manager: Head of Front Office Development/VPAbout Us:SMBC Group is a dynamic financial institution seeking a skilled Java Developer to join our London-based software development team. As part of our Front Office Java Development Team, youll play a crucial role in crafting cutting-edge solutions for our pricing,risk assessment, and trade capture platforms.Responsibilities:

  • Develop and support the banks risk pricing, trade capture, and STP software stack
  • Create scalable and accurate solutions for risk analysis, model implementation, trade booking and valuation, payments, settlements, and regulatory reporting.
  • Collaborate within a global Level 3 support team, participating occasionally in an on-call rota and responding to business support requests.
  • Process large volumes of data utilising both cloud computing and on-premises solutions.
  • Follow and enhance established Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) processes, automating tasks in the CI/CD pipeline.
Key Requirements:Mandatory:
  • Strong proficiency in modern Java.
  • Good familiarity with Python.
  • Excellent understanding of computing algorithms, data structures, and software design principles.
  • Working knowledge of Agile and SCRUM methodologies.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Previous exposure to banking, finance, or trading domains.
Desirable:
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Understanding of interest rate pricing and risk models.
  • Knowledge of valuation adjustments and XVA principles.
  • Experience in supporting third-party applications and familiarity with software engineering support tasks.
  • Ability to work with an unstructured schedule.
  • Degree in computer science, mathematics, physics, engineering, or a related field.
