Job Description

This is a great opportunity to join a London based STM journals publisher as an Assistant Editor. This is a varied position where you will play a key role in supporting the Journals team to provide a high quality service to authors and ensure the effective processing of manuscripts. Please note that this is a fixed-term contract until the end of December 2020, to start ASAP.Key duties:

  • Assist authors and reviewers with manuscript submission system
  • Liaise with authors, reviewers and editors to ensure papers are processed on time
  • Monitor submission email inboxes and process article proposals
  • Coordinate papers editing and amendments
  • Flag potential ethics issues and obtain permissions
  • Process editor payments and liaise with the finance team
  • Contribute and participate in editors meetings, taking minutes
  • Experience / skills required:
  • Some experience of STM journal publishing and/or experience of writing articles/copy for a clinical or academic audience is an advantage
  • Knowledge of peer review systems is desirable
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to manage time effectively
  • Flexible approach to work with solid multi-tasking skills
  • Excellent communication, proofreading skills and a good eye for detail
  • Strong customer service skills
