ASD Learning Support Assistant - Brixton, Lambeth, SW London - Join an incredibly inclusive primary school with a specialist provision for ASD pupils ASAPWe are seeking an motivated and loyal ASD Learning Support Assistant who will contribute to the further development of 2 children in Reception.PLEASE READ THE DETAILS CAREFULLY AND ONLY APPLY IF YOU MEET THE CRITERIA***ASD Learning Support Assistant at a nurturing primary school in Brixton, Lambeth, SW London***Role available immediately - interviews to be held after half term ideally***Long Term Full-Time ASD Learning Support Assistant post***£70-90 per day depending on experienceLearning Support Assistant for a pupil with an Educational Health Care Plan who is Non Verbal – ASD childAs their ASD Learning Support Assistant, your role is to assist and support a pupil with a specific special educational needs and general learning needs who has an Education Health Care Plan (EHCP).The role of this ASD Learning Support Assistant is to provide support for a non-verbal child with high needs ASD. The child has a personalised timetable and is not yet fully integrated into the classroom with their peers. The ASD Learning Support Assistant will need to create learning opportunities in all day-to-day activities and set up sensory learning boxes to enable the child to access the curriculum.Duties will include running specific programmes and activities to assist the pupil’s individual learning and social needs. As their ASD Learning Support Assistant, you will be responsible for implementing the targets on the pupils’ Individual Support Plan (ISP) in liaison with the class teacher and Inclusion Manager.Essential skills:•A good understanding of Autism and its presentation•Knowledge of TEACCH and SCERTS (or an awareness of the methods and how these can be used to support children with ASD)•Personal care•Resilience and a “can do” attitudeDesirable skills:•Pediatric first aid•Positive Handling•PECs •Makaton/BSL•EYFS curriculum knowledge•School experienceThe ideal ASD Learning Support Assistant will start with these pupils in Reception and move up with them in to Year one from September, therefore please only apply if you are looking for long term commitment.
