ASD & Behaviour Teaching AssistantSouthwarkMarch StartA small special needs school in Southwark is recruiting an experienced teaching assistant for a full time, ongoing position starting March 2021 for the remainder of the academic year. Working hours are 8.15am - 4.30pm, Monday to Friday.The school caters for 70 pupils aged 5-11 years old, with EHCPs for ASD, SLCN and complex needs. As well as a varied curriculum, they also offer a range of therapies and extra-curricular activities.The selected applicants will have previous SEN experience, especially with ASD and associated needs. As well as supporting the whole class, you will also be required to support some students with very challenging behaviour. The shortlisted candidate will have a calm and nurturing temperament, offering positive reinforcement, with a firm but fair approach. On occasion you may be required to remove students from the class and will be directed by the class teacher, therefore you must be confident academically. Knowledge of PECs and Makaton are desirable, but not essential.For candidates who commit, the school can offer a friendly and stable working environment.The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
