Job Description

Our housing association client has a 3-month contract vacancy (with the possibility of extension) for the role of an ARBORICULTURAL OFFICER details as followsJob PurposeThe role of Arboricultural Officer is to Inspect, monitor and keep a record of the condition and maintenance requirements of organisations tree stock.Responsibilities

  • Undertake tree and site inspections and surveys on a programmed and responsive basis as required.
  • Collect, use and update database on organisations tree stock.
  • Liaise with and advise various bodies and individuals on tree-related issues.
  • Inspect individual and groups of trees to ensure safety to the public and property; ascertain their condition and any monitor changes; identify signs of disease, pests or other health problems; identify any hazards; prioritise works; be able to respondto enquiries from the public, members and staff.
  • Survey trees and identify their species, variety, location, size, health and importance in the landscape.
  • Survey trees ensuring tree tag is present and identifying missing tags to be replaced.
  • Collect data from tree surveys and inspections, use computerised and other IT systems to input and update this information to provide a comprehensive record of organisations tree stock.
  • Complete condition survey of tree pits on hard standing areas with recommendations for remedial works where appropriate.
Essential Requirements
  • A minimum Arboricultural qualification of a level 3 or equivalent and/or LANTRA Professional Tree Inspection Certificate
  • Three years arboricultural experience with a good knowledge of tree management techniques, relevant legislation and experience to communicate with stakeholders
  • Working knowledge of Health & Safety as it applies to arboricultural activities
  • Able to undertake administrative tasks when required
  • Ability to take own initiative and identify potential improvements
  • Ability to use appropriate technology/IT equipment
