Job Description

Accessibility Lead3 Month Contract - Inside IR35 - HybridLorien Global have an exciting opportunity to work for a big client in the media and publishing industry. We are looking for an Accessibility Lead to run a 3-month strategic project to scope out our clients digital accessibility requirements. The ideal candidate will be committed to accessible and inclusive design. They will have experience in educating teams about accessibility, setting requirements and recommendations for projects and be comfortable working within a cross-functional team. Reportinginto the Head of UX&D, the candidate will also be a key member in leading our Accessibility Working Group, coordinating accessibility work and efforts across Experience.ResponsibilitiesAccessibility Lead to undertake a 3-month project to fully scope out the digital accessibility requirements.

  • Take a lead role and ownership of accessibility and be the go-to-person for accessibility requests, ideas, and developments.
  • Review audits that have already been done, access requirements for additional audits, and report on what has been achieved from the audits.
  • Create a prioritised list of accessibility fixes for products that have been audited.
  • Lead the accessibility steering group and ensure there are regular updates and meetings.
  • Work closely with the Head of Creative Diversity to ensure Digital Accessibility is integrated into the D&I strategy and communicated externally and internally.
  • Contribute to initiatives across to inform and educate on the importance of and best practices for digital accessibility
  • Work alongside our external accessibility consultants to manage the planning and delivery of accessibility testing.
  • Ensure that the accessibility research is aligned to good practice
  • Engage key stakeholders in the progress of the project and report back effectively to the business.
  • At the end of the 3-month project, present back to the Executive and Diversity Board on a recommended approach and strategy for Digital Accessibility.
  • Access current state and make recommendations going forward for disability and accessibility for news products.
Requirements
  • Experience creating and maintaining accessibility guidelines for both native mobile applications and web based products
  • Expertise in WCAG and ARIA
  • Experience conducting accessibility audits and interpreting audit results
  • Experience auditing native applications and web based solutions for WCAG compliance
  • Accessibility testing experience with screen readers including TalkBack (Android), VoiceOver (iOS), JAWS
  • Experience conducting or helping to design user research and testing focusing on accessibility issues
  • Great communication skills, especially in explaining accessibility concepts to a broad range of partners, and in collaboration with UX designers on approaches and with developers on implementation details
  • Highly detail-oriented and developed organisational skills, including the ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines
  • Proven ability to work both as part of a team in a highly collaborative, fast-paced environment
  • A portfolio that demonstrates how you have researched and designed accessible products
