Global freight forwarder seeking a national expert to lead their customs team based anywhere in South UK but must be commutable to either LHR or Dartford ideally.The National Air Customs Manager will be a senior role within the overall Customs & Trade Compliance team, whilst largely customs-focussed; there is a considerable customer service demand (internal and external customers) and a focus on excellence and technical knowledge, ability and advice.The National Air Customs Manager must have an ability to service all Air Logistics-side customs enquiries and issues as they arise, without direct supervision and usually independently managed. The role demands a self-motivated person who is used to dealing with tight time schedules and sometimes heavy demand for customs services.YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES• Independently, and largely unsupervised, manage a team of 6 people on a day-to-day basis responsible for the customs processes and procedures,• Ensure that all HMRC Matters are dealt with, including incoming HMRC mail / CCTO office enquires; identifying and resolving red flag compliance issues at shipment level• MSS and entry reporting, resolving outstanding issues. Working Closely with HMRC Shed Compliance on ETSF, BIP (Border Inspection Post) and inventory record matters.Export control compliance, ensuring high standards of export entry quality. Maintain LIC99 policy and manage export brokerage customers• Act as a Customs Helpdesk for customs and/or customer queries internal and external. Identification and resolution of issues.• Account manage customers customs activities.• Manage profit and cost centres and report monthly, including monthly P&L.• Emergency cover for key customer matters.• Available for frequent customer visits and support all team and verticals. With overall goal to increase Gross Profit and transition customs work into centralised customs at Heathrow Branch• Manage customs projects, for example: developing and transitioning BPA for customs, migration of Customs entries, handling post entry projects.• Managing, developing and implementing local and national processes, procedures, SOPs, Work Instructions, guidance etc.• Understanding and knowledge of, and ensuring compliance with Quality Management System (QMS) in accordance with QSHE Procedures, airfreight security, specific working instructions, customer specific SOPs and global policies throughout your area of responsibility Required skills
