Our client is a global leader in the production of polymer resins. The purpose of this job is to carry out special analysis on samples from Production, Technical Services and Research and Development Laboratories. To do this you will need to be learn andbecome familiar with a range of analytical chemistry techniques used within the company.DutiesAnalyse, interpret, and report results on specific products from Production, Research & Development and Technical Services. This will require the ability to follow set test methods with attention to detail including: acid/base titration, particle size analysis,SEM, optical microscopy, UV/Vis & FT-IR spectroscopy.Develop and extend own ability beyond basic QC testing to cover additional testing requirements such as porosity & surface area measurement, GC and HPLC analyses, atomic absorption - AAS.Attend suitable training courses when available to broaden knowledge and experience in relation to the various analytical techniques used within the QC lab.Calibration of analytical instrumentation.Carry out environmental test work as and when required.Develop new analysis and application methods when required and use literature research/sources where needed to help identify suitable approaches.Help maintain the required level of Health and Safety within the QC lab including upkeep of H&S databases (e.g. COSHH, SDS, Risk Assessments).CandidateBackground knowledge and experience of analytical chemistry techniques and instrumentation.Qualified to degree level in chemistry, analytical chemistry or an associated discipline.Experience in industry in an analytical testing laboratory and use of associated techniques.Some knowledge of Quality Control processes and procedures an advantage.Able to develop new analysis and application methods with training.
