Job Description

Platform Resourcing are currently working with a leading technical engineering company who are looking to expand their team by taking on a Engineering Supervisor. The successful candidate will be capable of planning production and materials,the staff team, continuous improvement activities and running of the 5S processes in place. This is a well-established family run business who have recently received a significant investment to support their continued growth and development.Those applying must have excellent communication and team management skills and the ability to drive change and process. This role would suit those for a mechanical engineering background who under the processes around precision machining, welder and fabrication.Workshop SupervisorBenefits:

  • Salary of £35,000 p/a
  • Hours are Monday to Thursday 6.30am - 3.00pm & Friday 6.30am - 12.30pm
  • Permanent, stable role within a growing organisation during an exciting period of expansion

Workshop SupervisorDuties and Responsibilities
  • Responsible for the day to day site maintenance in line with the annual plan.
  • Covert Customer orders into a balanced production plan
  • To provide commitment dates to the project team.
  • Identify resources gaps
  • Production and Material planning to achieve customer commitments.
  • Highlight the need for short- and long-term headcount changes.
  • Always maintain a high level of 5S
  • Identify and drive continuous Improvement projects in line with the business strategy
  • Report on a weekly/ Monthly basis performance against KPIs
  • To identify improvements where needed to close gaps.
  • Drive cultural improvements and training needs of direct reports.
  • Ability to learn Sigma nest drawing software
  • Management of a staff team of 22 people
  • Management of sub team leaders
Essential Experience/Qualifications
  • Previous experience in managing a shop floor team is essential.
  • Working knowledge and understanding of MRP systems and their use in a manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive change in a shop floor environment.
  • EHS responsibility / Training
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Microsoft project and access
  • Ability to demonstrate solid written and oral communication skills.
  • Min 5 years experience in a steel fabrication environment
  • Understanding of Welding and Fabrication processes
