An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Orthopaedic Clinical Leader to join the Perioperative Care Directorate at University Hospital Llandough (UHL). The successful applicant will be responsible for the professional leadership and management of the peri-operative team within theatres. They will have a focus on ensuring efficient, safe patient care across the Orthopaedic theatre suite and take ownership for governance arrangements and financial accountability. The development and strengthening of our exceptional clinical workforce will be key responsibility for the role.The successful candidate will be based at the University Hospital Llandough working within the Orthopaedic Theatres, however, may be on occasions required to work in University Hospital of Wales site that compromises of Main Theatre, Surgical Short Stay Unit and the Children’s Hospital of Wales theatres. There may also be ocasions to provide an on-call service for emergency operations.The Orthopaedic Theatres at the University Hospital Llandough provide a vast range of elective orthopaedic surgery as well as trauma within 6 dedicated theatres and also sessions in other shared theatres. Applicants should have extensive Orthopaedic experience. Also this position requires exceptional leadership skills and applicants should have undertaken a MSc or be working towards one as well as a certificate in management or working towards a formal management qualification.The Perioperative Care Directorate is currently developing it’s long term plans to transform the delivery of surgical services at UHL. The aim is to create a centre of surgical excellence that will focus on providing a truly efficient and productive theatre suite which serves the needs of patients across Cardiff and The ValeThe appointment to the Clinical Leader post is central to these plans and thus we are searching for someone who shares our values of:
