Job Description

Role: Surveyor(Cable Lay operations) with valid certificatesduration: < 3 monthsLocation: UK offshoreRotations: 2 rotations with possible 3rdHead of Survey TeamPrimary point of contact for the Survey Team members.*Continuously monitor and assess the performance of survey personnel and equipment.*Instruct team members of project requirements, planning and expectations.*Teach and instruct team members concerning survey and project specific requirements, knowledgeand provide the tools needed.*Initiate the own or third party creation of instruction material and learning lessons.*Organize internal meetings when needed to increase survey general and project specific knowledge to increase the operational performance improvement.*Stimulate a cooperative and healthy working atmosphere on board.*Assure the operational condition of the survey equipment used during cable installations, trenching and de-burial works*Supervise and assist with mobilization & demobilizations of project or vessel specific equipment as required.*Record keeping and updating of installed material, technical installation drawings and projectrequirements.*Supervise the real-time QA/QC of the survey equipment, survey navigation displays and provide any additional information needed to ensure smooth, safe operations and comply with contractual obligations.*Maintain full and detailed survey related records throughout the project.*Recording of all relevant vessel data and project specific data stream requirements.*Maintain and review calibrations, calibration registers and planners to comply with company procedures, project, national and international regulations and authorizations.*Set up, maintain and/or adjust the system in place for data management, archiving, backup andtransmittal.*Keep track of evolutions in software and hardware, implement equipment and/or software upgrades to improve the survey system or meet specific demands. Keep contact with suppliers of hard and software to stay updated.*Process maintenance records for survey equipment and keep track of spare parts.Reporting*Report to the OIM, the field and project engineers with regard to the production status, its optimization, any current and future expected issues etc.*Report to the onshore project team via the onshore project survey manager.*Safety and Environment*Jointly responsible for any safety related matters on board if they concern survey activities.*Give highest priority to safety on board and propagate the safety awareness to its team members.*Participate in project HIRAs and toolbox meetings.*Supervise the compliance with the Permit to Work system for all survey related activities.*Plan and perform risk assessments for all safety critical activities in co-operation with the QHSE responsible onboard or on site.*Adhere to international and local Rules and regulations and ensure compliance with these.Cable Lay operations*Perform and/or supervise the survey activities during Cable Lay, burial and de-burial operations.*Liaise with the Project Survey Manager to become fully conversant with the relevant terms and conditions of the Contract, to ensure that all contractual obligations are met.*Liaise with the Offshore Installation Manager to become fully conversant with the scope of work andall technical and operational obligations.*Review the cable lay workplan and schedule.*Understand the scope of the Cable Installation Project, review all project specific Cable installation documentation on survey involvement and fully inform the team members about the project survey requirements and activities.*Assist the Offshore Installation Manager and cable lay supervisors for survey related matters duringall aspects of the cable installation works.*Responsible for all survey aspects of the cable installation, burial and de-burial operations.*Assist the Offshore Installation Manager, the onboard Field and Project Engineer and the onshore project survey manager with the preparation of the close out reports and contractually requested deliverables.*Safeguard smooth operations.*Responsible for all survey related communications with the onboard survey crew and the onboard cable installation team (OIM, Project Engineer, Field Engineer and Cable Lay Supervisors)*Inform the Offshore Installation Manager and onshore project survey manager well in advance about possible expected logistic problems and issues.*Debrief with the onboard Project Engineer, Field Engineer, OIM and onshore Survey Manager
