Job Description

Senior Scientist/Technical Specialist - Special Projects Are you an experienced and dynamic lab-based Scientist seeking a new challenge and would like to contribute to groundbreaking research and development in the oil and gas industry Our client is an internationally recognised Independent Global Chemical TestingLaboratory and Consultancy, they are offering an exciting opportunity for a Senior Scientist/Technical Specialist to join a dedicated team in Livingston, Scotland.About the Role: As a Senior Scientist/Technical Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in our clients Special Projects department, engaging in routine testing and applied research for the oil, gas & energy industry. This position entails active involvement in cutting-edgeR&D initiatives for clients on a 1:1 basis and as part of major joint-industry projects.Key Responsibilities:

  • Testing in High Temperature/High Pressure flow rigs
  • Designing and implementing new test protocols relating to routine and R+D activities
  • Following test processes, plotting and interpreting data and reporting
  • Customer liaison including technical updates, reporting and presentation of results
  • Project management
  • Day to day management and supervision of scientists working on the projects
  • Opportunities to support in the publishing of technical papers
Working Patterns and Benefits:They offer a variety of working patterns upon completion of probation, including a compressed week and 9-day fortnight. Additionally, there are opportunities for travel and secondments to international laboratories.The ideal candidate:Essential skills/experience
  • Minimum of an honours degree in Chemistry, Geochemistry or a related discipline
  • Experience of working in a laboratory
  • Self-management
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Project management and staff supervision
Desirable skills/experience
  • Practical experience in an industrial setting
  • Background in laboratory aspects associated with oilfield chemistry/geology and/or R&D activities
  • Working knowledge of ISO 9001
