Job Description

ResponsibilitiesOperates polishing equipment to obtain desired polish, blending and lustre on stainless steel parts and products. Selects wheels, dressings and abrasives best suited for type of job. Applies and manipulates work to wheels exercising proper pressure and durationto polish, glaze and buff using care to maintain contour, relationship and dimensions.Duties to include but not limited to:
  • Polish / passivate objects or parts to correct defects or to prepare surfaces for further finishing, using hand tools and power tools as needed.
  • Load and adjust work pieces onto equipment or work tables, using hand tools when needed.
  • Measure and mark equipment, objects, or parts to ensure polishing standards are met.
  • Select abrasives and/or pastes, according to materials, sizes and shapes of work pieces, amount of stock to be removed, finishes specified, and steps in finishing processes.
  • Verify quality of finished work pieces by inspecting them, comparing them to templates, measuring their dimensions, or testing them in working machinery.
  • Mark defects for possible rework.
  • Record product and processing data on specified forms when needed.
  • Assist in minor repair and maintain equipment, objects, or parts, using hand tools.
  • Transfer equipment, objects, or parts to specified work areas, using moving devices
  • Open to training on other skills such as bead blasting
Required experience:
  • Use quality gauges when needed
  • Spot defects on work; close visual inspection required
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
