Packaging Structural DesignerLocation: LivingstonSalary: Competitive, DOE.Contract: Full Time, PermanentWe are Saica; we are recruiting and we want you!An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Packaging Structural Designer to work as part of a team in a busy design department, this role can be based in our Edinburgh or Milngavie office although travel between both sites will be expected aspart of initial training programme and will move to our new site based in Livingston in 2022.About the Role:You will report to the Technical Office Manager and will work with the sales team to design tailored packaging solutions for our customers. In addition, it will be important to work closely with the production team to ensure that all developments are designedwith plant and machine efficiencies in mind.Tasks and Responsibilities: Develop original packaging solutions using design technology and create product sample prototypes for customer review. Work with production and customers to troubleshoot and solve machine run ability and product development issues. Help with quote requests by providing technical information on packaging specifications and gain production approval of new products. Work with sales, customer services, commercial and production to ensure excellent communication and coordination of developments. To act and behave in a safe manner that ensures safety and wellbeing and that of your colleagues and complies with legislation and site safety rules.Desirable Skills and Experience: 2-5 years work related experience in a similar environment. CAD design experience essential. Knowledge of ESKO and CAPE Pack software would be an advantage. Effective communication skills both oral and written. Competent in the use of Microsoft Office including outlook. Knowledge of Adobe software would also be an advantage. Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritise own workload.The successful candidate must have experience in CAD design, preferably structural packaging design with knowledge of FEFCO style codes, corrugated material grades and design principles. Knowledge of cutting tables, cutting die use and layouts to suit printingneeds with the flexographic printing process would also be an advantage.Closing date: Friday 21st January 2022If you feel you have the skills and experience to be successful in this role then apply today!
