Job Description

MetallurgistCompetitive Salary +33 days holiday, Pension, and other benefitsMondayThursday 8am4:15pm, Friday 8am3pm Permanent OpportunityLivingstonOur client is a large and well-respected manufacturing organisation who are looking to grow further due to increased workload. They are looking for an experienced metallurgist who is well versed testing a range of metals. You will be working as partof a team in the metallurgy department and must be capable of working on own initiative, often to tight deadlines whilst maintaining good attention to detail.MetallurgistJob Specification

  • Carry out metallurgical testing
  • To assist with the identification, development and implementation of operational and product improvements
  • To determine the optimum process route for the manufacture of the component.
  • To supervise the selection of candidate forgings and the testing of validation packages for new parts to satisfy customer requirements and to create a full report for the customer
  • To prepare and maintain Methods of Manufacture and Heat Treatment instruction sheets.
  • To troubleshoot any non-conformance situations that may arise during forging or heat treatment operations and propose solutions in conjunction with the Quality Manager.
  • To liaise with raw material suppliers to ensure that material quality requirements are consistently met.
  • To support the Quality & Materials Engineering Manager in pursuing business objectives
  • To assist with the identification, development, and implementation of operational and product improvements.
  • To ensure continuity of production of quality parts ensuring customer satisfaction is achieved.
MetallurgistEssential Skills/Experience/Qualifications
  • Minimum HNC or ideally degree qualified in a material related field i.e. metallurgy, materials science etc.
  • Strong experience in a Materials Engineering/metallurgy environment, preferably in the forging industry.
  • Knowledge and experience in quality systems and procedures
  • Must have a high degree of numerical ability
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
Metallurgist Desirable Skills/Experience/Qualifications
  • Experience working within a forging environment
