Job Description

Enigma People Solutions is delighted to have been engaged by one of the market leaders in the optoelectronic and microelectronic design and assembly industry to help them recruit a Manufacturing Development Engineer. This is an exciting opportunity to expand skills and work in an established and successful business with a great team. Your role will involve but not be limited to: Assembly process development, Hands-on process operations, New product introduction and Manufacturing tooling design.To be of interest you will be able to demonstrateEngineering/Science degree, lower qualifications will be considered if backed up with relevant industrial experience.Ideally 3 or more years relevant industrial experience (semiconductor and/or optical component manufacturing) including:

  • Broad knowledge of assembly processes with a detailed understanding of at least 2 of the following processes:
  • o Wafer saw, epoxy/solder die attach, wire bond, package sealing, mould transfer encapsulation.
  • Basic understanding of materials (thermal expansion, thermal conductivity).
  • Mechanical design using Solidworks or equivalent.
  • Design for manufacturing.
  • Project management (including generating and maintaining project plans).
  • FMEA, DOE
  • An understanding of process engineering, yield improvement & SPC (preferred but not essential)
  • Functional Competencies:
  • Knowledge and understanding of the techniques and equipment used in the assembly of semiconductor level micro and opto-electronic components.
  • Ability to program manufacturing equipment including fully automated wire and die bonders.
  • Ability to work across a wide range of industrial product technologies.
  • Ability to continually maintain an overview of project schedules and to plan future resource requirements while discussing detail with the relevant individuals.
  • Ability to work within cost, quality & time constraints to meet customer requirements.
  • Ability to work under pressure, understand priorities and highlight resource gaps and likely project slippage in advance to allow recovery or commercial management.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to participate contribute and in some cases drive conference calls with key customers.
