Job Description

Laboratory Supervisor - Team LeaderSalary: £35k-£45k per annum dependent on experience.An exciting opportunity has arisen for two leadership roles with this company. They are seeking to recruit experienced chemists with the ambition and proven track record to manage the smooth running of laboratories and projects in their Analysis and CorrosionTeams.The successful candidates will join a dynamic and motivated group of Team Leaders in charge of day-to-day operations, resources, and business monitoring each with responsibility for a team of 68 staff.Key Responsibilities Include:Resource Management

  • Planning and prioritisation of work
  • Allocating and timetabling of resources, equipment and consumables.
Direct Involvement in Laboratory Activities
  • Carrying out laboratory testing to fulfil customer contracts.
  • Writing procedures, plotting and interpreting data, writing up technical reports.
Staff Management
  • Training, development and appraisal of staff
Budget Management
  • Management of project and equipment costs
Sales and Marketing
  • Customer liaison: preparing quotes, reports and presentation to customers and for conferences
Essential Skills/Experience
  • A good knowledge of corrosion chemistryOR a breadth of analytical experience.
  • Competence in following laboratory SOPs and developing new methodologies.
  • Ability to provide technical direction to support training, review of data, and reports.
  • Technical customer interaction, delivering high quality reports and presentations.
  • Effective communicator.
  • Excellent time management, successfully managing priorities to tight deadlines.
  • Team building and management including coaching, mentoring and development.
  • Assertive, self-motivated, enthusiastic leader
  • Commercial awareness and ability to meet financial targets
  • Ability to assess risks, make decisions and execute tasks.
  • Knowledgeable in working to the highest standards of Quality, Lab Practice and Health and Safety
Applicants are required to demonstrate at least 5 years experience in either a corrosion or analytical environment, proven track record of delivering high quality results to deadlines while managing, developing, and mentoring people.Desirable Skills/Experience
  • Experience of working in production chemistry, polymer coatings, corrosion or water analysis
  • A working knowledge of relevant oil and gas sector standards.
