Job Description

Job Title: IT Hardware EngineerSalary: £25,000 - £30,000Job Location: LivingstonRole DescriptionWe are currently seeking a full-time on-site IT Hardware Support Technician based in Livingston. As an IT hardware technician, you will be responsible for maintaining and supporting customer technology equipment and IT assets. Your duties will include installing,configuring, diagnosing, repairing, and upgrading equipment to ensure optimal performance. Additionally, you will troubleshoot problem areas promptly and accurately, providing comprehensive assistance as needed.Technical Support Requirements:

  • Provide comprehensive multi-vendor OEM hardware support for various hardware and computer services, including servers, storage, PC/laptop, and UPS systems.
  • Offer on-call support, either on-site or remotely via VPN connectivity, outside regular working hours on a rotational basis.
  • Coordinate with vendor support to resolve problems and incidents efficiently.
  • Schedule and perform preventative maintenance tasks during customer site visits.
  • Conduct troubleshooting and performance tuning activities as required.
  • Apply patches, updates, and upgrades to server hardware and compute systems.
  • Generate necessary documentation and reports as per organizational requirements.
  • Support activities during planned maintenance windows outside normal working hours.
  • Execute IT hardware improvements, upgrades, and repairs.
  • Install, configure, test, maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot end-user IT hardware, networked peripheral devices, and networking hardware products.
  • Conduct on-site analysis, diagnosis, and resolution of complex IT hardware problems, recommending and implementing corrective solutions as necessary.
  • Respond promptly to incoming calls, pages, and emails regarding IT hardware issues.
Service Management
  • Manage and prioritize tasks assigned to the server hardware and compute services team, including service requests, change requests, incidents, project tasks, and other responsibilities as needed.
  • Monitor and take ownership of tasks assigned to the server hardware and compute services team to ensure completion within SLA targets.
  • Evaluate and recommend hardware products for purchase.
Required Technical Skills:
  • Proficient knowledge and experience with server hardware and compute services.
  • Strong customer service orientation.
  • Hands-on hardware troubleshooting experience.
  • Ability to comprehend technical manuals, procedural documentation, and OEM guides.
  • Capacity to conduct research on PC issues and products as necessary.
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills in English.
  • Capability to present ideas in a user-friendly manner.
  • Willingness to adapt and learn new skills as required.
  • Self-motivated and proactive approach to tasks.
  • Attention to detail and strong analytical/problem-solving abilities.
  • Previous experience in customer-facing roles.
  • Support of a diverse workplace environment.
  • Proficiency in writing documentation and reports.
  • Possession of a full driving license and access to a vehicle.
