Venesky-Brown’s client, a public sector organisation in Livingston, is currently looking to recruit 2 x Health and Safety Advisers for initial 1 x 2 month contract 11th July- 01st September 2023 / 1 x 3 month contract 31st July – 31st October 2023 - potentialto extend on a rate of £250/day (inside of IR35). These roles will be hybrid working with two days being office based and three days working from home.Responsibilities:- Develop and maintain a professional working relationship with managers, supervisors and employees to achieve a ready acceptance of the practices and procedures necessary to adequately control risks to health, safety and welfare.- Provision of statistical analysis and reports for the purpose of improving health and safety.- Provision of competent and timely advice and reports to Service Groups and individuals on a broad range of health and safety matters.- Attendance at internal meetings with the purpose of disseminating information, giving advice, recommending improvements and identifying health and safety needs.- Contribute to the development and monitor compliance of policies, procedures and guidance.- Contribute to the development, implementation and improvement of health and safety management systems and procedures that contribute to health, safety and welfare.- Identification of training needs and as necessary the development and delivery of training courses.- Interpretation, application and implementation of health and safety legislation, codes of practice, guidance and other sources of information.- Monitor accident, incident and associated absence management data, identify trends, review risk mitigations, identify wider potential impacts and opportunities, prepare reports. - Investigation of incidents, dangerous occurrences and near misses as necessary- Conduct workplace visits, inspections and audits to determine health and safety needs.- Ensure appropriate records are maintained relating to health, safety and welfare.- Liaison with external bodies including the Fire Brigade, Police, Health and Safety Executive, Safety Forums, statutory agencies, etc.Essential Skills:- At least 2 years post NEBOSH certificate experience in a specific health and safety role - Computer Literate – Word, PowerPoint, Excel.- Excellent report writing, oral and written communication skills- Confidentiality- Excellent presentation skills- Broad-based health and safety experience- Able to demonstrate a practical application of health and safety knowledge- Self motivated- Ability to work with minimum supervision and make autonomous decisions in real time - Evidence a good level of knowledge of the range of occupational health and safety hazards, and risk factors relevant to multi-discipline and multi-sector organisations Desirable Skills:- Chartered Membership of IOSH (or equivalent)- Local Authority experience- Training and skills/experience- Construction Safety Experience- Experience with specialist applications such as online safety management software, accident databases, eLearning tools, video development, Power BI, intranet or web design, other e-tools If you would like to hear more about these opportunities please get in touch.
