Garment Technologist Location: Livingston, West LothianSalary: £22 - 24k, dependent upon experienceHours: 9.00am - 5.30pm Mon-FriContract: Full-time, permanent.We are based in Livingston and are looking for a passionate garment technologist to join our busy team. This is an exciting opportunity to work for a rapidly expanding company. We design and import clothing for our own brands sold into the UK, Europe, and the Rest of the World.This position affords the opportunity to join an expanding department and assist with the development of a large portfolio of successful apparel brands.The candidate must have at least 2 years’ experience within the Industry and have a sound understanding of apparel manufacturing processes and procedures, the candidate must be organised, accurate and have great attention to detail with a willingness to learn.Garment Technologist - The Role:Assisting the Sourcing Manager in their day-to-day tasks will include creating and updating tech packs, ensuring colour standards are kept up to date and filed, managing the approval process, and carrying out AQLs amongst various other tasks related to the critical path of an order.Key Duties:• Measuring and fitting approval samples, giving clear instruction on changes• Updating size specs and tech packs.• Reviewing lab dips, communicating comments to factories, filing, and maintaining colour standards• General admin, filing and managing samples• Liaising with designers, and adapting designs to suit production methods• Sourcing fabrics and accessories• Undertaking quality evaluations of materials and checking the quality of the final product• Responding to product queries, including complaints, from distributors• Making sure garments can be produced within budget• Overseeing fabric testing and fittings of first samples• This position will eventually lead to the opportunity for some international travel to visit key suppliersGarment Technologist - The right candidate:The candidate must have at least 2 years’ experience within the Industry and have a sound understanding of apparel manufacturing processes and procedures, the candidate must be organised, accurate and have great attention to detail with a willingness to learn.• You must understand manufacturing, textiles, and garment construction• Have the ability to work alone as well as in a team• Be able to work under tight deadlines and cope with pressure• Have a keen interest in fashion and textiles• Demonstrate an understanding of pattern cutting, construction and manufacturing techniques.• Technical knowledge gained preferably within fast paced commercial or supplier environment.• Flexible approach to be able to adjust to the constantly changing needs of the business.• Ability to convey technical information clearly in layman’s terms.• Exceptional eye for technical detail• Applied technical knowledge of fabrics and threads• Highly organised with good prioritisation skills.• Confident and clear communication skills; both verbal and written to work productively alongside our Product team and external suppliers• Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator is desired but not essentialAt Livingstone international our values and culture are very important to us.
